Lake Khuvsgul is the most popular destination in Mongolia. Imagine that 2% of fresh water of whole earth surface is contained in a gigantic oval stone bowl, and that is Lake Khuvsgul in Northern Mongolia. It is covered by southern Siberian mountains and pine wood, forming breathtaking natural view that’s why where it’s one of the perfect places for horse trekking. The main success factor of Mongol Empire, the biggest in human history, is largely linked to Mongol horse. Not just for war, horse is well suited for nomadic lifestyle as Mongolians ride it to go take care of other livestock, move houses with, and travel long or short distances. We will feel the natural beauty on horseback.

Ulaanbaatar city tour – Gandan Monastery the main Buddhist center, Chinggis Khaan (the central) Square, National History Museum, and Traditional cultural performance
After breakfast we will drive to airport for local flight (1.5 hrs) to Murun, Provincial center of Khuvsgul. Then we will meet our local guide and drive (about 3 hours) to Khatgal village, by the lakeshore. After check in to ger camp you will enjoy delicious Mongolian meals for dinner and enjoy the natural beauty of lake Khuvsgul. Overnight stay at a tourist camp.
We will meet the wrangler who will accompany you throughout the rest of the trip with us and try riding horses in the morning before we start our horse trekking. After lunch at the camp you will be provided safety instructions and brief about tour routine and hop on the saddle adjusted for you. Start our journey through southern Siberian wilderness.
Khuvsgul is also known for Reindeer herding ethnicity. On our way we will see and experience their unique and endangered way of life, and it’s possible try riding reindeer if you wish. You will also witness how the shamanism ritual took place 800 years ago. We will continue riding through southern Siberian woods, beautiful mountains, and pass by nomadic people and animals to experience their hospitality, which Mongolian nomads are also known for.
Drive to Murun airport in the morning and flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Lunch in Ulaanbaatar and whole afternoon is free for you to discover UB by yourself.
, with museum and observatory inside. Next we’ll drive to beautiful Terelj National Park, one of the most visited national parks and explore the area by horse riding and hiking. It is the time to feel peaceful nomadic lifestyle and touching the wild nature again. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, farewell dinner and check in to hotel.
