Itinerary

Naadam is one of the greatest cultural festivals on earth, and it is performed in every village and towns in Mongolia. It started as military preparation of Mongol soldiers to exercise their strength and battle skills through Mongol wrestling, horse racing and archery. Most of Mongol men practice wrestling from childhood, and Mongolia even holds Guinness world record for most people wrestling at the same time. Mongolian horses race for dozens of kilometers continuously as they did the same between Asia to Europe during the imperial period. During the Naadam there is also lot to capture about rich culture of Mongolia.

9 July: Ulaanbaatar city tour – Gandan Monastery the main Buddhist center, Chinggis Khaan (the central) Square, National History Museum and dinner in a restaurant at Zaisan hill with whole view of the city.
10 July: Drive to Khui Doloon Khudag to watch Mongolian horse-racing, one of Mongolia’s Three Manly Games. Unlike other race, Mongolian horses race for 20-30 kms distance. Back to Ulaanbaatar for lunch. Attend Deeltei Mongol parade (Mongols in Deel, traditional costume) at the central square. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
11 July: The big festival officially starts by taking the Royal Nine White flag of Chinggis Khaan from the State palace to Naadam Stadium. We will see the royal flags on the way to Naadam stadium. We will arrive at the stadium and watch Opening ceremony of Naadam Festival, followed by the start of the Mongolian traditional wrestling. During the festival the opening we will grab a taste of Khuushuur, which is basically a deep-fried flat dumpling and main dish of the festival. After dinner there is a main concert and show until midnight in open theater at the central square.
Go to Mongolian archery arena and watch archery competition. Also there is kind of “fourth” manly game of ankle-bone shooting and we will have a chance to see that. After lunch, drive to lake Khar Zurkhnii Khukh, one of the most natural beautiful lakes and visit Mother Oelun memorial on the way. Overnight at the ger camp on lakeshore.
Breakfast. Drive to Tsonjin Boldog, the biggest statue of Chinggis Khaan, with museum and observatory inside. Next continue drive to beautiful Terelj National Park and explore the area, which is the time to feel peaceful nomadic lifestyle and touching the wild nature again. After dinner drive back to Ulaanbaatar and check in to hotel
